Afriplex has done it again with the launch of their state-of-the-art Tea packing facility.
This is yet another innovation that Afriplex have brought to the market to facilitate the company’s drive in the pharmaceutical and CAMS industry.
This latest addition consists of a 1 000 square meter purpose-built factory for the unique tea packing dosage form, which adheres to strict GMP standards and compliance. Dr Christiaan Malherbe, Afriplex Head of Analytical Services, said: “Afriplex is committed to ensuring that the quality standards within the tea facility matches the GMP requirements for pharmaceutical and CAMS production. This not only ensures that we protect against cross contamination between different product runs, but also to ensure that we meet our client’s high standards. We believe that we can ‘bag the quality’ to ensure we meet international standards for the local market”.
The facility contains the latest horizontal form, fill & seal machines that are in a dedicated two storey building, providing continuous flow. The modular design of the facility and equipment also allows for versatility and flexibility. It can pack tea into loose containers or tea bags of various sizes and perforation papers, allowing a specific steeping ability which will achieve the desired use and benefit the end user.
The new business will enable Afriplex to hire an additional 20 staff for the area, adding them to the existing 250 employees at Afriplex. This additional product offering also allows Afriplex’s Research and Development team to branch out into formulating innovative tea products for the CAMS industry, as in Europe.

As a business we saw the opportunity and have invested in state-of-the-art tea bag packing equipment that is not only an investment for Afriplex but also an investment in the growth of our clients”.
