Afriplex has officially implemented the Cultrax® cannabis track and trace system to ensure compliance to both local and international regulations. Cultrax® is a complete cannabis traceability system that was specifically developed by the Cannabis Research Institute of South Africa (CRI) to match the requirements of the South African cultivator as set out by South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) and international bodies such as the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB). Besides compliancy, Cultrax® also provides the cultivator with basic Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) functionality to streamline business functions at an affordable price. See short overview on the CRI:

The conservative and early application of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) via an integrated system like Cultrax®, enables the collection of data that would otherwise not be tracked in a Good Agricultural & Collection Practice (GACP) compliant process. The Cultrax® system allows for comprehensive data to be tracked that enables, over time, a better understanding of product quality metrics, stability, shelf life, and contamination. These are just a few of the benefits of the early adoption of GMP, in addition to GACP in the cultivation phase of manufacturing herbal drug substances and herbal drug products. This will ensure that data is consistently tracked from cultivation operations, through the Afriplex manufacturing process all the way to the end user.

Robert Longrigg, Responsible Pharmacist of Afriplex commented on this initiative: “The implementation of Cultrax® at Afriplex comes at a much-needed time as we prepare to ramp up the production and export of cannabis flos, extracts and final product formats. Consistent and trustworthy data from seed to sale will be essential if we wish to establish South Africa as a reputable supplier of quality cannabis products to the global market.”

Implementation of Cultrax® will be a prerequisite for passing Afriplex cannabis cultivator quality audits effective from 1 May 2021. Kindly reach out to the Cultrax® team at for more information.  |  +27 (0)21 872 4976 +27 (0)86 578 1305  |
