Afriplex Is Delighted to Participate in The SAAPI Conference

The South African Association of Pharmacists in Industry (SAAPI) is hosting its Annual Conference on 16 and 17 May 2019 at the CSIR International Conference Centre. This event is aimed at bringing pharmacists in the industry together to discuss relevant topics that are of importance to the pharmaceutical and CAMS industry. It is, with this in mind, that Afriplex is honoured to be a part of the two-day event.

On Thursday 16 May, Wayne Robinson, Afriplex Director of Business Development will be giving a presentation on “CAMs: A Practical Approach Going Forward”.

This presentation will give an update as to where SAHPRA is regarding complimentary medicines and Health Supplements as well as the status of industry is too. Afriplex is fortunate that we have been working with key stakeholders in the CAMS space for the last 10 years to ensure compliance with SAHPRA requirements. This means there will not only be a focus in the presentation on the key items like GMP, formulation justification and product stability; but also a practical approach to launching new Health Supplements and improving products that are already in the market. The presentation is aimed to give some clarify to industry as how to responsibly manufacture and position the CAMS and Health Supplement products within this sector.

The Afriplex topic on the second day, Friday 17 May, will be “Cannabis: The Importance of Testing your Products”.

Afriplex with its membership to the Cannabis Research Institute (CRI) of SA is one of the leaders in the South African Cannabis Sector. With the recent milestone of Afriplex’s dedicated Cannabis Laboratory being nominated as laboratory of choice by the CRI, Afriplex is uniquely positioned to understand the Cannabis market from cultivations to extraction and through to R&D of final products. Afriplex’s knowledge of the regulatory environment and QC Analytical Testing allows for a practical perception of the Cannabis Market and how testing throughout the supply chain is so vitally important.

Afriplex is proud to be a member of the CRI and to contribute to this fast-paced industry. Afriplex has been cultivating and extracting botanical plants and extracts for the last 17 years. This unique skill set and the regulatory knowledge within the Afriplex team clearly sets the business as the market leader within this advancing pharmaceutical sector.
