A first for SA: CBD isolate extraction technology developed at Afriplex

Afriplex, in collaboration with the Cannabis Research Institute, is once again putting South African Cannabis industry on the map as it has developed technology to extract cannabidiol (CBD) isolate from locally cultivated cannabis. Unlike full-spectrum CBD products, CBD isolate does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of cannabis. With CBD isolate, consumers can relieve pain and inflammation, boost immune function, and reduce anxiety, just as they can with other CBD products. Through conceptualisation, testing, and development, Afriplex produces novel and commercially viable products for local and international markets as part of the cannabis giant, ImpiloVest. It places a high degree...

Afriplex Is Delighted to Participate in The SAAPI Conference

The South African Association of Pharmacists in Industry (SAAPI) is hosting its Annual Conference on 16 and 17 May 2019 at the CSIR International Conference Centre. This event is aimed at bringing pharmacists in the industry together to discuss relevant topics that are of importance to the pharmaceutical and CAMS industry. It is, with this in mind, that Afriplex is honoured to be a part of the two-day event.

Afriplex Aligned With Prized Cannabis Cultivation License (SAHPRA)

Afriplex (Pty) Ltd is proud to announce that one of their strategic partners, House of Hemp (a proudly South African company who’ve accumulated decades of experience in growing hemp in South Africa), has received their Cannabis Cultivation License from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA). This is a historical milestone for South Africa to become an active and innovative player in the budding cannabis market, and marks a positive move forward by SAHPRA to encourage the development of the medical cannabis and cannabidiol (CBD) sector.

Afriplex Announces Its Membership to The Cannabis Research Institute

It is with pride that Afriplex announces its membership to the Cannabis Research Institute of South Africa (CRI).

This membership developed throughout the establishment of the CRI, with a milestone of Afriplex’s dedicated Cannabis Laboratory being nominated as laboratory of choice by the Institute. We are privileged to be associated with an organisation established on such novel grounds to ethically support the development of the cannabis industry within South Africa and the continent.

South Africa’s First Cannabis Testing Laboratory at Afriplex

Afriplex is excited to announce the establishment of our dedicated Cannabis Laboratory. This is a result of the need to meet the requirements that the exploding cannabis industry has created for high quality processing and testing of cannabis oils and products in South Africa. This development has occurred over the last eighteen months and has been together with the tirelessly working to bring our cannabis processing facilities up to Department of Health and the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) regulations. We have invested in a specialised team of experienced professionals and researchers to bring the Cannabis Laboratory online. It...

“Cannabis – Is It All Smoke and Mirrors?”

Afriplex’s Technical Symposium As part of this year’s Afriplex Technical Symposium we will be discussing the very newsworthy subject of “Cannabis – Is it all smoke and mirrors?”. This topic fits well with this year’s symposium theme of ‘Harnessing Nature’s Best’ as it explores the health benefits and potential commercial uses for this hotly debated botanical. The event will take place at the JSE Conference centre in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Wednesday 12 September 2018. Since the Medicine Control Council (MCC), now SAHPRA, published its intent in 2017 to allow for licencing of the cultivation and processing of Cannabis, the South African market has...
